I spoke to one Steve, who was at some point in the recent past working as his road manager who told me that while it is true that he (Mr. Nice) is currently having a holiday courtesy of the State, it is not for the debt owed to him. And even though that is the case, he still approached the police and asked that Mr. Nice first pay the monies he owes him before he is released.
And what is the monetary breakdown of this? Well, the two parties entered a verbal agreement in which Steve would do the marketing for the gigs Mr. Nice was headlining, transportation to the venues (car hire service) and accommodation at various hotels in the general locations of his shows.
But Mr. Nice refused to pay what he owed citing the fact that the two parties conviniently did not have a formal contract. That was when Steve approached his new handlers at Candy n Candy records seeking redress and they worked out a formula where Mr. Nice would perform at two shows; Murang'a and Kisumu (which were to be held a few weekends ago) so Steve would recoup his loses only for Mr. Nice to once again refuse to honour his end of the agreement.
As I said before, all these are allegations. Keep it Ghafla for more as the story unfolds!
