WESTGATE ATTACK PHOTOS PICKED AMONG REUTERS BEST PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE YEAR

September 21st will forever remain in our memories as its the fateful day one of the biggest malls in Kenya got attacked by terrorists

Fast forward to today and two photos from the attack have been selected by Reuters among their best photographs for the year 2013. Among them is a photo of the brave unsung hero Abdul Haji as he rescued a kid. After the attack, Haji became a hero to many and he was praised far and wide and even got several people going mellow and falling in love with him including song bird Ray C who openly talked about how she wished to get her own Abdul Haji. The other photo picked was one that stirred mixed reactions of an injured woman lying on the ground calling for help. The same photo landed Daily nation in trouble with its esteemed readers after they used it on the cover page the morning after the attack.

As much as we appreciated Haji and his bravery, it is good to know he got international recognition as well.
