Intel Report indicates that over 300 Kenyans from Mombasa are fighting with ISIS in Iraq

A new report by US intelligence officials indicates that more than 300 Kenyans have been recruited by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) to train and fight with them in Iraq.

According to the confidential report which was handed over to the Kenyan Government last week, over 300 Kenyans youths went to Syria between 2013 and 2015 and reports indicate that they were recruited by ISIS.

A senior Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) official stationed in Nairobi corroborated the report’s findings saying a number of ISIS fighters have confirmed that Kenyan fighters are some of the ISIS commanders in Tikrit and Mosul, where there is a big battle between ISIS and the Iraq Government’s forces.

This is a big shock to the Kenyan Government since the fighters may sneak back to Kenya and start causing havoc on Kenyans by killing them like they are doing in Iraq, Libya and Syria.

The National Intelligence Service (NIS) is yet to comment on the issue.
