EDWARD Lowassa Confident But Doubtful About Result Delays

By Henry Mwangonde
Dar es Salaam. The opposition Presidential candidate Mr Edward Lowassa has requested that the  National Electoral Commission (NEC)  be diligent in releasing election results especially in parts of the country where he believes his party has won.

Lowassa added that  he fears that delay in releasing results in some parts of the country saying the move could be aimed at favoring CCM candidate Dr John Pombe Magufuli.

“I have seen the results released by NEC so far and I thought there could be some changes but they are still favouring CCM candidate contrary to the reality on the ground,” he said.

Commenting on the election process Mr Lowassa said:  “So far good, but there is a problem with the way NEC is handling the results because they're a long  time to announce the results while the voting process has ended."

The former prime minister told journalists today at a press conference held at the opposition coalition’s headquarters that he is confident he will win the General election and commended Tanzanians for turning out in large numbers to vote.
