Saturday January 19, 2019-Somali government forces in collaboration with Kenya Defence Forces have today killed 73 Al Shabaab terrorists who tried to stage a terrorist attack at Sanguni Military base, North of Kismaiyo.
According to senior military official, over 64 militants were killed by an airstrike carried by Amison forces while the rest were killed by soldiers who surrounded the army base.
During the attack, Somalia and KDF forces seized an improvised armoured vehicle filled with explosives intended to blow up Sanguni Bridge.
The Sanguni’s attack come three days after five Al Shabaab insurgents attacked DusitD2 Hotel in Nairobi and killed 21 people. The five terrorists were exterminated by Kenya security forces
In his national address after the attack, President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is the Commander In Chief of KDF, assured Kenyans that the government will not rest until those who helped plan and execute the attack have been brought to account.
Sources said more attacks are planned by KDF to eliminate Al Shabaab militants in Somalia.
“Just be patient, we will teach them a lesson they will never forget,” One KDF soldier who is in peace mission in Somalia was quoted saying.
