Nandy Makes A Second Return to Coke Studio Africa 2019 Performing Alongside Nigerian Afrobeat Star Skales

Honey-voiced balladist Nandy is sitting pretty at the helm of top Tanzanian divas in music hot
on the heels of her highly anticipated 2018 ‘’African Princess’’ album release. Known for hit
songs such as, “Ninogeshe”, “Nagusa Gusa”, and “Njiwa” with Willy Paul, Nandy collaborated
with Ethiopian songbird Betty G on her 2017 debut on Coke Studio Africa. She returns on the
2019 season for an east meets west type of collaboration paired with Nigerian Afrobeat
heartthrob Skales with the pair produced by GospelOnDeBeatz.
From a simple church choir girl, Nandy’s musical career has blossomed to heights she could
never imagine. Her music continues to reign across the East African region thanks to her ever
growing and loyal fan base. She has been on an award winning streak having collected Best
Female Artist East Africa at the 2017 AFRIMA Awards and Best Female East Africa at the 2018
AEAUSA Awards. Speaking on her return she says, “Being selected once again for Coke Studio is
an affirmation that I must be doing something right with my career [that the Coke Studio Africa
team recognized].” Nandy hails Coke Studio Africa as a melting point for different cultures and
music styles. She adds, “The show connects us as musicians and there is always something to
learn from each other since we all from countries with different cultures.” She further adds, “By
the virtue of being a Pan African show, being part of Coke Studio affirms your stature in the
African scene allowing you to cross borders.”
Coke Studio Africa will feature over 25 African superstars drawn from Kenya, Uganda, Namibia
Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Nigeria, among other countries. Once again, the
show will premiere original compositions, world-class music fusions and engineered by some of
Africa’s top music producers.

Nandy’s songs continue to perform very well on Tanzanian radio and TV thanks to her growing
and loyal fan base. In fact, both “Kivuruge” and “Ninogeshe” have so far garnered over 6 Million
views on YouTube. She has collaborated with some of Tanzania’s top artists including Aslay on
“Subalkheri” Chege on “Kelele za Chura” and Ice Boy on “Binadamu”. Apart from music, Nandy
is also a business lady and has her own company that sells beauty and fashion products: Nandy
Beauty Products and Nandi African Prints, respectively.
Coke Studio Africa is a non-competitive music collaboration show, which seeks to bring
together, and celebrate the diversity of African music and talent. It also gives upcoming artists
the opportunity to work with some of the best local and international music and production
talent. The artists are drawn from different genres, eras and regions and put in pairs to create a
modern and authentic African sound through musical fusion. As the artists interact and produce
music documented by the show’s producers, they also get to learn about each other’s music
and styles while exchanging cultures. The show takes the viewers inside the recording studio to
watch a diverse range of artists.
