The Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) is a governmental agency typically tasked with the responsibility of investigating and combating corruption within a country. Such organizations play a crucial role in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance. They often collaborate with law enforcement agencies and other institutions to address corruption at various levels, including public administration, business, and civil society. The Institute for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption (TAKUKURU) is a public institution established under the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Law No. 11 of 2007. This law was enacted after the repeal of the Law for the Prevention of Corruption (TAKURU) Chapter 329 which was revised in 2002. The establishment of this body came after the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania passed the 2007 Prevention and Combating Corruption Bill on April 16, 2007. This bill was signed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Mr. Jakaya Kikwete became the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Act on June 11, 2007 and came into force on July 1, 2007.
