Senegal Head coach Pape Thiaw finally addresses the issues in the AFCON final where he asked his players to leave the field whilst the match was still ongoing.
His full Speech to the people of Senegal:
For Senegal 🇸🇳!
My heart, my soul, my spirit are anchored in this beautiful country that gave me everything and for it I would do the impossible.
We had an outstanding tournament with a great organization, which unfortunately came to a dramatic end. It was never my intention to go against the principles of the game I love so much. I was just trying to protect my players from injustice. What some will perceive as a violation of rules is nothing but an emotional reaction to the impartiality of the situation. After consultation, we decided to restart the match and go win this trophy for you.
I apologize if I may have offended some people, but football lovers will understand that emotion is an integral part of the sport.
I want to salute our President of the Republic and the Minister of Sports for putting us on the best conditions, our Federation for its unwavering support, and our supporters who have lifted mountains with us.
I could not have done all this without my family, my Mom who is no longer here, my Dad, my wife and children who give me an extra motivation.
Finally my boys, those 28 warriors who gave their sweat, blood and soul for their nation. It’s a pleasure to lead you because beyond being legends, you are exceptional people!
Are you satisfied with his words?
